All over the news -- print, radio, TV-- it's there every day: how we're so outraged at the gas prices, and that we need to cut back.
Truck and SUV sales are dwindling, and hybrids and smart cars are gaining popularity because John and Susie Q Public don't like paying $4 and up for each gallon of gas.
People aren't taking long summer vacations -- prices of everything is going UP because of rising fuel costs...
Can someone tell me WHY there is still a half dozen motor sports that happen every weekend? NASCAR alone has scheduled 2-4 events per MONTH for the rest of the summer, and into the early fall. Then there's boat racing, motorcross, and all kinds of other gasoline powered vehicles that have races...
Fans cars, Trailers, motor homes, TIRES, the racing cars, etc etc etc... all using gallons and gallons of gasoline. Ok, so the racing cars might be really good on gas-- but if the race is a 500 mile circle, how much is really saved? And this goes on nearly every weekend.
So....the USA is hurting, huh? We're really suffering, right?
Right. When we start to curtail even some of these activities in order to actually make the attempt at saving fuel, then I'll beleive the US is serious about fixing this whole oil issue.
Priorities.... I know.
But until then, it'll just be your family, and my family, that has to cut back on our leisure activities.
Obviously, other people don't have a problem.

I totally agree with you. I've slowed down on the xpressway to help save on gas AND I did take my vacation closer to home.
